Meik Wiking, CEO of The Happiness Research Institute and author of the international best-selling book “The Little Book of Hygge,” has spent the better part of the last four years researching happiness. Since the book’s release, he’s received countless letters from people all over the world saying they believe they have had hygge all their lives, but never had a word to describe it.
To Meik, hygge is all about savoring simple pleasures and preserving happiness. Meik writes in The Little Book of Hygge, “Hygge may help us to be grateful for the everyday because it is all about savoring simple pleasures. Hygge is making the most of the moment, but hygge is also a way of planning for and preserving happiness.”
